STEPS TO OBTAIN YOUR TEXAS CHL
1. Take the Training Course and Shooting Qualification Test (Fee for Training paid to Big Texas Training.)
Taking the training course for your new CHL will require 10 hours, and includes a written examination and firearms qualification. You must pass both with a score of 70% or better. The written exam covers law, nonviolent dispute resolution, and safe handgun handling, use, and storage. The shooting practical requires you to fire fifty rounds (slow fire) from a handgun of .32 caliber or greater, 20 rounds at three yards, 20 rounds at seven yards, and 10 at fifteen yards. If you qualify with a semi-auto you will be able to carry a semi automatic or a revolver. If you qualify with a revolver you are only certified to carry a revolver. If you shoot a Taurus Judge you must use .45 LC not the 410 shot shells.
